Andrea Filby

Hi, I'm Andrea Filby, a 22-year-old BSc Chemistry student at Stellenbosch University. I tutor Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Maths Literacy, Afrikaans Home Language and Afrikaans FAL for Grades 1 to 12.

I matriculated through the Cambridge curriculum, which focuses on understanding concepts rather than memorising them, and that's the approach I bring to tutoring. I got distinctions in Chemistry, Physics and English at IGCSE level, and took Maths through to A-level. I find that once a concept actually clicks for a student, their confidence and their marks follow naturally.

I've tutored in both the CAPS and Cambridge curriculums, and I've worked with students who have learning difficulties, helping them find ways of approaching their academic work that suit them. My focus is always on understanding rather than memorisation, because that's what builds real confidence in a subject.
