Ruark Potgieter

Ruark Potgieter here. I'm working toward my Master's in Mechatronic Engineering, and I tutor Mathematics, Information Technology and Physical Sciences for Grades 1 to 12 in Stellenbosch.

I've always enjoyed solving challenging problems and helping others build the same skill, which is really what I focus on as a tutor, teaching how to approach a problem rather than just handing over the answer. I achieved an average of 88 percent in matric, with 93 percent in Physical Sciences, 92 percent in Mathematics and 90 percent in Information Technology, which is part of what led me into engineering. My background gives me a structured, logical way of working through problems with students.

My only tutoring experience so far has been helping a family friend with his Maths, Science and IT, walking him through examples and the thinking behind each step, which is actually what pushed me to start tutoring properly. Outside of academics I enjoy hiking, jogging and sport in general.
